John began in real estate while he was obtaining a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Murray State University. An undergraduate degree in finance and the MBA provides a solid foundation for him. “My previous work experience as a mortgage loan officer helped me understand the finance side of the business. The MBA helped me grow and manage my business to provide better service to my clients.”
John’s passion for Murray has been shown in his work to better the community and Board of Realtors. He was President of the Board of Realtors in 2019, following two years serving as Treasurer. He was a member of the Kentucky Realtors’ Leadership KYR Class in 2018. John was a founding member of Young Professionals of Murray, an offshoot of the Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a Trustee for the Murray Independent School District Foundation for Excellence. He has served on the committee for Friends of Scouting Annual Fundraiser for several years.
In addition to residential sales, John is building a solid reputation in the commercial world. “I really enjoy working with businesses moving in and expanding in Murray and the Western Kentucky region” he notes. He has completed the first round of courses in working toward the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), which recognizes leading experts in the commercial investment field.
John earned his Broker’s license in 2015 and he has since added the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation, which places him in the top 2% of Realtors nationwide and the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation. He has been a consistent multi-million dollar producer since he first began his career and has been named Kopperud Realty Agent of the Year five times as the top producer. He has been voted by the public as the Murray Ledger and Times Favorite Realtor twice.
In his leisure time, John enjoys traveling – both in the US and internationally – hiking, reading, and spending time on Kentucky Lake with his family and his Airedoodle, Pete.
